KUNTISUYO RICUYKUNAWAN KICHWA SHIMITA YACHAKUPAYCHI!
Our Kichwa courses are taught by native Kichwa speakers who will introduce you to the life and culture of the Andean world. Kichwa (Quichua or Quechua) is the most widely spoken indigenous (Indian) language of Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. While variations of Kichwa are spoken throughout the Andean highlands and Amazon region, communication between the different groups is possible.
While learning Kichwa, you will also be introduced to the many Indian cultures of Ecuador, their traditions and customs, how they have struggled to maintain their identities since the Spanish Conquest, and about their current movements, political groups, and goals.
Accommodations: Homestay with Spanish-speaking Ecuadorian host family, or with a Kichwa-speaking family if desired. Hotel or hostal accommodations can also be arranged. Requirements: Age: minimum 18; no maximum. Some knowledge of Spanish recommended to interact with everyday Ecuadorian life.
