Roberto Cedeño is the official guide for our Elderhostel birdwatching programs and is considered one of the best in Ecuador. He is also a free-lance ornithologist, instructor, and naturalist guide. When time permits he also guides birdwatching groups in Mexico.
Here is what Elderhostel birdwatchers say about his skills:
“Roberto is a very knowledgeable guide, goes far to make everyone happy!"
"Roberto is extraordinary - both professionally and personally."
“Roberto is the best! Excellent in every way."
"Roberto was an excellent guide - over 380 different birds!"
"Our guide Roberto has encyclopedic knowledge of the natural history of Ecuador as well as social and political insight."
"This program was put together so well, with a genius insight into details and choices."
"This was the best Elderhostel trip I have attended. Cedeño is a true gem! “The birder, Roberto Cedeño, is the best I have ever traveled with. We signed up for this program because of him – we had experienced his expertise on a birding trip with Elderhostel Mexico. He is extremely knowledgable about birds, and skilled at helping all members of the group find its location and learn to describe it. He is constantly teaching us about birds: their markings, their calls, their habitat, their characteristics."
“This was an excellent program. There were 4 locations of stong interest and variety in the country. Roberto Cedeño, the birding/naturalist was the best guide we have ever worked with-and we have experienced guides frequently in the U.S. and internationally. He was knowledgeable, trained, very quick to spot and identify birds/wildlife in the field and helpful and constantly pleasant. He was a treasure! I would highly recommend this program to anyone interested in tropical birds. Ecuador is an awesome place!
